# Units

Units provide a place for discussion, collaboration and advancement of specific areas of work.

Units are the atomic units of how Gitcoin advances its purpose. A unit is a group of people actively working on tasks that align with Gitcoin’s purpose and essential intents. These could be considered similar to a "department" or "team" within a traditional organization.

Current units at Gitcoin include:

* [Gitcoin Foundation](/governance-processes/units/gitcoin-foundation.md)
* [Grants Lab](broken://pages/PmwCCwAIqmEIfuQ5DNsl)
* [Ecosystem Collective](broken://pages/tcdvk78KGUNbhSXGu98w)

We are not currently accepting proposals for spinning up workstreams due to market limitations.
