How to Become a Gitcoin Council Member

Council members are appointed through a structured nomination and selection process, ensuring high-caliber participation.

1. Election Phase (1 week):

   • Community vote using GTC tokens

   • Top 5 candidates selected

   • Minimum voting threshold required

2. Nomination & Selection (1.5 weeks):

   • Delegates and community members can nominate candidates or self-nominate on a designated governance post.

   • Candidates must meet the basic qualifications and demonstrate their ability to contribute effectively.

   • Candidates will be expected to introduce themselves in a community call

3. Election (1 week):

   • The existing Governance Council and community vote to ratify selected members.

   • The top 5 candidates will be selected to join the council

   • The vote will require a minimum voting threshold to be considered valid.

4. Onboarding & Training (1 week):

   • Newly appointed members undergo an onboarding process to familiarize themselves with governance expectations, tools, and responsibilities.

   • Mandatory security training and access provisioning to governance and communication platforms.
